Catherine Booth - Chairman

I have a BA Honours Degree in Business Studies from Leeds Metropolitan University and I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel. I currently work at a school in Stoke on Trent. My previous experience is working in Exhibitions and Event management and in the Recruitment Industry.

I have spent fourteen years supporting Kiera, taking parting in and organising amputee sporting events and challenges both in the UK and abroad. I have: cycled along the River Nile, I was a team member of the Lands End to John O'Groats Cycle Challenge, I have trekked the Great Wall of China, the foothills of the Himalayas in India and more recently Cuba, raising funds and awareness for amputee charities. I have been involved in LimbPower from the inception and I am proud of what we have achieved to date with the support of our trustees, CEO, volunteers and partners. I hope that we can continue to support people as they rebuild their lives through the power of physical activity, sport and the arts.

As a below-knee amputee, I have been involved in disabled sport now for over 30 years originally as an athlete, then as a coach and manager. I was a sprinter, moving into Pentathlon events after competing in Seoul. I was the National and European Record holder in: 100m, 200m, 400m and Long Jump, as well as National Champion in: 100m, 200m, 400m, Long Jump, Shot Putt and Discus. I am not sure how many of those records still stand but I know they have stood the test of time. In Barcelona 1992, I represented GB in Pentathlon, having taken 4th place at the World Championships the previous year.

I played Rugby for 3 teams: Old Walcoutians in Surrey, Stanley and Nomura banks. I found new avenues and challenges in snowboarding and helped amputee boarders within the American Wounded Warrior programme in 2005 and 2006. I helped to build both a local Sitting Volleyball Club (East London Lynx Sitting Volleyball Club) and a National GB Squad capable of vying for a medal in 2012, of which I was Captain. The game is a great leveller and men, women, able bodied and disabled can play together over the lower net seated on the ground. It is also a great sport for rehabilitation.

The most profound thing for me is that if someone was to say, "If we could give you your life back the way it was before you lost your leg, but you would lose everything you have experienced since then, would you take it?" I would have to say, "No thank you."

I am hoping that as a trustee of LimbPower, I will be able to use my experiences to help new amputees engage in sports and who knows, maybe even find some future Paralympic athletes.

Damian MacDonald - Treasurer

I was born in Woolwich to Adrian & Twink (both in the Army). As a child I lived in Hong Kong then Aldershot then Birkenhead. We moved to South Africa just beforeI turned 10. I was involved in RTA in South Africa when I was 16, which resulted in a below-knee amputation when I was 18. I am now a left below-knee amputee with a left artificial hip. I returned to the UK just before I turned 21. I work as an entertainer, primarily in care homes with disabled adults as well as the elderly and mentally ill. I am married to Karen and have 3 children: Jacob, Scarlett and Morgan.

I became involved with LimbPower when I wanted to learn to cycle. I attended the Lingfield Park Cycle Ride. I then joined the team of amputees climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. I trained hard for this event and was delighted to summit this wonderful mountain. I have since joined the team for the London to Paris Cycle Ride. LimbPower has opened my eyes as to what can be achieved with hard work and planning and I want to share this with you.

Jessica Cook - Trustee

I am currently employed by the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS), whom I have worked for for seven years starting as a Regional Development Manager in the South East and East regions, then working nationally with National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGB's), and now working with National Disability Charities to support a better link between Sport, Physical Activity and disabled people. I have always been very passionate about sport, having competed for several years as an international swimmer, attending both World and European championships until 2000 when I retired due to injury.

I have an upper limb congenital impairment and first came across LimbPower through my work with EFDS. After supporting LimbPower for just over 12 months in my professional capacity and volunteering at a LimbPower Games, I was invited to join the Board of Trustees in the summer of 2015.

Sports/Interests: Swimming, Socialising with Friends and Reading.

Chris Linnitts - Trustee

I am an above-knee amputee, following a serious traffic accident in 2002 when I was 23. Since my accident, I became more involved in sport than I ever was before. I have taken up cricket, archery, ski-ing and more recently, snowboarding.

I went on to found Linnitts Solicitors with my wife in Newton Abbot. I am passionate about rehabilitating successfully following injury which is why I want to be involved with LimbPower. LimbPower asked me to join the Board of Trustees because of my legal expertise and my love of sport.

Chris advises the board on all legal and cricket matters!
